The four stages of safe car storage

At Silverstone Classic & Race Car Storage (SCRCS), we tuck away our customers' cars, keeping them ultra-safe for as long as required. We can also MOT them and provide maintenance services such as paint correction either before our during their stay with us. They're in very good hands indeed, because we know how much these vehicles mean to people. They're not just cars. This week, we took delivery of a stunning Lotus Exige V6 Cup which needs storing indefinitely. We thought it would be fun to show you the four stages of safe car storage and use this classic little racer as the perfect example.

1. Collection

There's no need for customers to drop their cars off with us (although they're more than welcome to). We'd much rather save them the hassle and start the car's journey to hibernation in the back of one of our specialised trailers. Here's the Exige leaving its home at Lotus Silverstone:  Safe transportation awaits!

2. Arrival at SCRCS HQ

Following a short journey, the Exige arrives at our HQ in Silverstone where it's gently offloaded and prepared for storage. At this stage, some cars may need some maintenance, a service, MOT or deep clean and detailing, but in this case the Lotus was already primed for long-term storage. It really did look factory-fresh.

3. Into the unit

Following preparation, the car makes its way into our ultra-secure unit, joining countless exotics, classics and prides of joy that we're already looking after. It's in very good company. An optimal spot is picked, before the team gently place the car where it will now rest, looking as good as new:

4. On goes the cover

To ensure perfect protection for the duration of the storage, the Exige is covered from bonnet to spoiler in its own, Lotus-adorned car cover. It adds an air of mystery (what's under there?) but also ensures that the Lotus remains in almost time capsule-like condition, preserving the as-new appearance.

That's it! As with so many of the cars we look after, we don't know exactly how long the Exige will stay with us, but we do know that it will be kept safe for as long as it needs to be. If you require short or long-term car storage, please do get in touch - we'd love to hear about your car and have the chance to keep it safe for you. Contact us today to find out how we can help.
